* ES CAT #5500 is a highty active osterification catalyst at temperatures in the range of 200-230℃. It is white solid which dissolves by reaction upon heating with carboxylie acids. The resulting active catalyst is soluble in systems such as phthalate or isophthalate esters and remains in product. The use of ES CAT #5500 minimizes the dehydration and oxidative degradation of alcohols. ESCAT #5500 is a highly selective catalyst which results in higher purity products due to little or no side reactions. Corrosion, odor and color problems encountered with the use of acid catalysts are thereby eliminated and/or reduced. Excess alcohol can be recovered and reused without expensive purification steps.
