Generally, Organic matter and protein are adsorbed onto surface of PVDF Fiber that have strong-hydrophobic. Bacteria which included in activated sludge in aeration tank of submerged membrane are organic matter. So, when bacteria filtered by hydrophobic membrane, Organic matter are adsorbedonto surface of Membrane.


So, It causes serious fouling that go down percolation ability. Hydrophilic property of Membrane surface are improved so that water permeability of surface is increased and adsorption of organic matter are suppressed.
