Introduction
MTD refers to components that use magnetic nanoparticles uniformly dispersed in a solution to adjust transparency according to the intensity and direction of external magnetic field.
Magnetic field is applied to a colloidal solution with uniformly dispersed magnetic particles, and the alignment of magnetic particles in MTD is varied according to the intensity and direction of magnetic field to adjust optical transmittance and reflectivity. MTD can be used in magnetic sensors to recognize magnetic patterns, counterfeit prevention tags capable of easy detection, and optical devices that use magnetic field to modify optical properties.
MTD applications include MTD Ink in the colloidal solution form, and MTD Capsule, which is manufactured by forming MTD Ink into capsules with an optically transmissible medium. MTD Film capable of adjusting its transparency according to magnetic field can be manufactured by uniformly coating MTD Capsule or filling micro barriers with MTD Ink.
