wound gasket is a type of semi metallic gasket, rationally designed to provide a high performance in use at high temperature and pressure.
It is equipped with an ample compressibility and an increased demand has been seen in these years because of the merit that a gasket seating stress could be controlled by an optimum compression thickness.
It is widely used at process line and lines handling heating medium in oil refineries and petrochemical plants as well as steam processing lines in thermal power stations, atomic power stations, and vessels of steam turbine engines. It is made of V,W preformed thin metal strip and a selected filler material, which are tightly and spirally wound together with only metal strip wound in several folds and spot-welded at the beginning and the end of winding.
- No is required when installing the gasket because a perfect sealing could be assured
only by stressing it to a certain seating thickness(example: original 4.5mm thick gasket may
be compressed to 3.2-3.4mm)

assured even if the operating conditions should suddenly be changed. It would not be broken
nor cause leakage even if it should receive heat and pressure cycles or thermal stress
- No leakage has been experienced even at very low temperature

equipment by changing material of metal winding and filler or adding centering device and ribs.

surface finish of flange (250 AARH is acceptable).

strength to prevent gasket blowout and acts as a compression stop.
A general-purpose gasket suitable for use with flat face and raised face flanges.
Class 900 and above an inner ring is recommended.
Solid inner metal ring acts as a compression stop and fills the annular space between flange
bore and the inside diameter.
