The cell wall of gram-positive strain is thick because of covering with multiple peptidoglycan x-layers, while the cell wall of gram-negative strain is thin because of covering with single peptidoglycan x-layer and covering with outer membrane consisted of phosphatide, Li-Po SA Cara droid, and lipoprotein for 2nd x-layer. The staining difference caused by this structural cell wall differences, becomes the basical standard of germ classification.
