STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) refer to a variety of bacterial, viral and parasitic infections that are acquired through sexual activity. STDs are caused by more than 25 infectious organisms and Common STDs include: chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis, gardnerella, mycoplasma and trichomoniasis. Q-Sens® Real-time PCR diagnostic kits for sexually transmitted diseases allow reliable detection of DNA infects from mucosal and epithelial swabs, secretions, urine and synovial fluid. All kits contain always independent internal control for checking the efficiency of DNA extraction as well as amplification process.

The principle of Q-Sens^® Detection kit is based on TaqMan real-time PCR assay. This qPCR assay is performed by 5’ to 3’exonuclease activity of Taq polymerase. During the PCR reaction, fluorescent dye (FAM) conjugated 5’ end of the probe is cleaved from the probe-template DNA hybrid and detected by the fluorophore-detector of real-time PCR machine. The Ct value and amplification curves will demonstrate the result of real-time PCR through your PCR system as real-time manner.
